  • Lord Byron

    6th Baron Byron of Rochdale, a leading poet of the romantic movement. Has fled England for Geneva amid the scandal of leaving his wife, a rumoured affair with his half-sister, and a mounting gambling debt.

  • Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin

    Mistress to Shelley and daughter of political philosopher William Godwin, and famed feminist Mary Wollstonecraft. Travelling with her and Shelley’s illegitimate child. An avid reader and aspiring author.

  • Percy Bysshe Shelley

    A prominent figure in the romantic poetry movement. Holds radical political and philosophical views, advocating for social reform and a supporter of atheism (was expelled from Oxford for penning ‘The Necessity of Atheism’).

  • Dr John Polidori

    Personal physician to Lord Byron for his travels through Europe, having gained a medical degree at the age of just 19. He accepts a fee from a publisher to secretly keep a diary of his time with Byron.
